Late to the party but saying hello just the same. Smile

After some, uh, recent events on the boards, it's nice to see new folks come in and make fast friends.

Laugh I *did* mention that I can sympathize with that, right? My songwriting message board has over 7500 registered users and yeah - there are blow-outs every now and again. Mostly my moderators handle it as they're getting *really* good at that stuff (with very minimal direction from me). But if I have to come in and be "person on high" and tell them to play nice in my backyard? Yeah. I've done that before. Heard all the same arguments I read over here ... Always sorry when I have to ban someone ... but when it takes away from other people's enjoyment (ie: when it gets into the house and makes a mess), it has to be done. Those boards have been online since 1999, I believe (though I did change programs midway through).

Deirdre, you're doing an awesome job. Smile (Not that you need me to tell you that. Laugh)

Smile That's how it works best. It's within everyone's interest to keep things friendly and helpful. Otherwise, why would they be here? And if they're here to cause trouble, well, there are PLENTY of places online for them to find THAT. They don't need to cause it where it's not wanted.

Honestly - sometimes I think that some people use the web as an excuse to be rude and nasty to people just because they're not talking to them face to face. It's a phenomenon I notice more often than I'd like to. I'm glad you don't deal with that here very often. It's always nicer to be somewhere where people are supportive of one another. Especially in an industry like this one! Smile

Laugh I think it's self-regulating. Which is great. Smile

Enjoy your skiing, Liz!

Jodi,

Sorry to be late welcoming you. I've been buried in work and away from the board for a bit. It's wonderful how you've jumped right in. Good for you.

Hey there, Elaine! Great to meet another "local". Laugh

And hi, Rob. I don't mind food-jacking. That's the best reason, as far as I'm concerned. Wink Especially chocolate (she says with reverence... like half or more of the women in the universe...). Yum! Embarrassed
