Oh, I still can't seem to get out of the radio business...even after 20 years. It's not even my full time job anymore...but something just won't let me quit. Could it be.....easy money?

So I was right, the best way to get out of radio was not to get into it in the first place.

First class Productions (irony?) have not approached me but I wonder if they have a rate card. Were I to give them a bulk order would they discount nothing for me to keep themselves competitive with Radio Daddy?

I've been in radio since '92. I loved being on air and I miss it very much.

I'm not real keen on the day to day management b.s. I have to deal with (I'm much more than just the "Production Manager" my business card would have you believe, but I don't get paid for it).

I love producing good audio. I guess I've just decided that if I'm going to keep doing this I'd rather make money for myself as opposed to for someone else. And I sure can't afford to buy a station of my own in this economy.

Whew! Guess I'm not alone. I've been doing radio for 30 years. In fact, I still do weekends on a Classic Rock station. However, keep in mind that 30 years ago, radio was actually fun, creative, theater-of-the-mind and each market had unique-sounding radio stations. THAT'S why I got into radio in the first place. Now, it's all homogenous, cookie-cutter blather no matter where you travel. Even the morning shows seem to sound the same any more. Don't misunderstand... I STILL love what I do! It's just that my hands are tied when it comes to doing what the listeners are starving for. I'll probably do some form of radio until I pass... I just don't want to have to depend upon it for a living any more.

Voiceovers truly help! Wink

Even 20 years ago, radio sounded much different than it does today.

I agree, radio in the 70's was a blast! The congolmerates have taken all the fun and creativity out of being on the air. Voice rtacking is nothing live being live on the air.

VO is still where we can exercise some creativity.

I am statring to sound like my partents talking abuot the "GOOD OLD DAYS".
