Ok, after a couple of weeks of sitting on this extreme logo makeover, and speaking with some of you kind people on the board, and reading all of your comments...
I decided to not make the makeover so extreme.
The co. I hired just didn't come up with anything that knocked my socks off, so I asked them to make some mods to the current logo like making my name pop, cleaning up the chick and the mic, etc.
I'm happy to hear any comments!!! THANK YOU for your time!!!! I really REALLY appreciate you guys. Today, especially, I've realized what great friends I have in this industry (long story for another time).

I like the 2nd design, the pointy sunglasses, and definitely the smaller, pinker lips which to me say "Chica" while the larger, redder lips say "Madge". |

Overall, I like the 2nd one on page 3 the most, and I think it'll work the best over a variety of backgrounds.
I agree that the pink lips work better than the red, but I sorta feel like all the sunglass choices are "too old" looking. _________________ Lou Zucaro

Glad you decided to go this route.
Pink lips - and pointy glasses with those long eyelashes peeking out - that one works for me. If you go with that one - then ask them to try a color gradient match for your name with the pink, the green and black as the accent. _________________ Playing for a living...

Caryn,
Connie just posted what I was going to post, so count this as another vote for that idea. _________________ Be well,

I like the green pointy sunglasses and eyelashes and pink lips too.
Now maybe this is just me but...
There's a gradient on the sunglasses, the chick has some texture. So does the mic but the mic stand is very flat and it distracts me from the overall image. I'd have them add some shadowing or a gradient or a highlight or something to give just a touch of depth to the mic stand in whatever image you choose. _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog

Ditto on the mic stand - and the text for Hip Chick underneath could have a drop shadow. Some logos have a 3D and a 2D version for different purposes. _________________ Playing for a living...

Thanks all. I think the one that most of you are referring to (1st one on top of page 4) is my original chick. He had placed it there for comparison. Ha! What does THAT tell me?
Tells me that maybe we simply get tired of looking at our own stuff, and THINK we need to make it better, but we don't.
I'm leaning toward #2 on page 3, making the lips and tagline pink and the eyelashes black again as they are in the original.
I also appreciate the comments about the mic stand. I see what you're saying. I'll see what they can do. They're over time on this project for the quote they gave me, and I really don't want to pay more. If they can't fix it, I don't think it's a huge deal... I think we look at this stuff with a microscope and others will not as much.
It's been a good learning experience. _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

Let me help screw up all the voting.
Top of page 3 is the correct logo with modifications.
* The chick is great and I love seeing the eyes. I'll be very interested to know how well that will reproduce both on paper and then in B&W. I'd ask about that as the eyes behind the glasses have a heavy gradient but with today's technology that might be a big deal
* The pink fill in color on the name is spot on. The outline color needs to be changed BUT keep the outline around the letters. It works very well.
* Because there are so many colors in the logo, I would pick up an existing color from logo for both the lettering outline color and the hip chick tag line. I think my vote would be black. My only other option I would recommend would be black outline and maybe use the red from the lips as the color for the hip chick tag.
I hope this helps. Well done Caryn. _________________ - Peter

I like the fonts on the bottom of page 2 and the chick on top of Page 4, with a clearer wing and a black mic stand. _________________ http://www.jameslorenz.com/notjustvoiceover |
