Okay, so I rarely have an opportunity to start a new thread. I have learned that any time I have something to potentially post a question about, there is a 98% chance that I can do a search on the VO-BB and find fifteen threads that covered the subject six months ago. You guys and your collective consciousness are better than Google when it comes to VO info. Sheesh.
But I can't find anything in the history that really discusses a VO's business cards, and the content therein. Thereon. Thereof. Whatever. Of course, there's lots of info on demos, websites, and I've found quite a few threads on postcards, Christmas cards, flyers, and promo material, but not a lot on your business cards.
It's past time to upgrade from my free VistaPrint set, but I'm a bit unsure how much stuff needs to go on there. Name, phone and e-mail, natch. But anything else? I've heard both 'NOs' and 'YEPs' on putting a mailing address on it, I've seen some that listed specialties like narration or character (although I have not yet found my nitch, so this doesn't apply to me yet. If you should locate the missing nitch, please forward it immediately to my home address, which may or may not be printed on my business card,) and a couple even printed a few notable companies they've done work for on the back of the card.
I'm kind of a KISS subscriber myself, but at this point, I don't know if there's an 'industry standard' for this, and I'm not finding a lot of commonalities in the little stack of various cards I brought home with me last year from VOICE 2007, except that an alarming number of them apparently came from VistaPrint if the stock images are anything to judge by.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks much, good people!

I'll toss in a voice for adding your website.
Seems common sense, but I ran into a few folks this past weekend who didn't have that and it was a bit of a pest to check out their work.
Frankly, I shouldn't have to e-mail you to get your demo. _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

I have some Vista Print cards - probably one of the one's you are speaking of - but with the arrangement, the content and the color - plus who they are actually going to - it works pretty well at getting the basic information across - which for me is...
My Name
My current tag line (which will probably change WHEN I get a real logo)
What I do - Voice Talent - Actor
What sort of things I do - Commercial - Corporate - Character
The fact that I have ISDN, Phone Patch (it currently has MP3, but I think that pretty much is expected - so I'll probably change that to Professional Studio with blah, blah
Mailing address
Phone
email
website
I don't see much of this that can be left off if you are leaving the card with someone who doesn't know you well. _________________ Playing for a living...

Email address and web site are essential.
I don't put my mailing address on the card.
I do have phone number and fax number.
When I hand out the card I mention that email is the preferred method of contact since I'm usually in the studio recording... Email is in with me, phone is not.

Hey Bob, how's come you have your own domain name but don't use e-mail at that domain?
Good for brand reinforcement and portability, too! _________________ Lou Zucaro

I got my business cards online from Office Max. In 2000 they were running a deal of 1000 cards for $20. Now, eight years later I think I have about 950 left. lol

The car came out of an exercise in branding. What would associate with me?
So I went through a list of things that make me "me".
Number 1 was (stand by) being left handed! I have this connection with all lefties, I see/identify right away if they are or are not, I gripe and complain at every device that is "designed for right handers", and point those items out constantly. That was hard to put on a card.
So I also love racing. I wanted to be a bit more generic than NASCAR or IRL or NHRA, so this car was a good fit. It's exclusive, expensive, and the coloring was good since I love black. (guess what, my car is all black, even the wheels)
So with the person that was helping me design this, that became a way to brand me in a way that I can associate with. The rest is just the necessary poop.
Yeah, you are right. My own domain but use my cable companie's email. Dumb. Lazy. _________________ Try to imagine a world where there is no such thing as hypothetical situations.

Wow.
Thanks, guys! That helps!
Connie, actually, I do not have your card in my little stack, but I do have about three pages of notes from your session! Sadly, they will not fit in my Rolodex, no matter how I fold them up. Deebs, WAY cool card.
So, name, e-mail, phone, website. I can see that town/state is useful, agent name and studio if ya got one. Doesn't necessarily need to match the marketing 'package,' but it's cool if it can. If one doesn't have a home studio or a studio with which one is affiliated, is that important to note? Or should that be on the website?
Gah. Jeez. Too much to overthink. Maybe I should just carry around a sticky note pad. Ha. J/K.
Thanks, again, everyone! This really has helped...
