I'm talking REAL windows, like in my house. I've been looking to do an overhaul of all the house windows and thought I should also consider the acoustic properties as well.
So I'm looking for advice in that arena, and perhaps any other advice on home window replacement. Perhaps any experiences you might have had, recommendations, etc... _________________ Try to imagine a world where there is no such thing as hypothetical situations.

Bob,
When we were building the new headquarters for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, one of our studios on the ground floor ended up in a corner of the building facing some railroad tracks. In that room I remember we ordered and installed double panes of something called sound-rated glass; which evidently has additional sound dampening properties that are superior to regular glass. I recall that it wasn't cheap, but you can now stand in that room watching a train rumble by less than 200 yards away and not hear a thing. _________________ Be well,

Greg,
Thank you. And Lou, I wasn't directly involved with the process, but can see if the folks who worked on that project have the details handy once I'm back in the United States next week. _________________ Be well,

I love this! I contacted one of the major window replacement manufacturers asking for the sound reduction numbers on their windows.
And I quote:
" I spoke with one of my sales representatives regarding the sound reduction of our windows and there is no way to put a rating on sound reduction. "
So, that whole STC rating is new to them? I guess I'll cross them off my list. _________________ Try to imagine a world where there is no such thing as hypothetical situations.
