Can anyone recommend a reliable cd duplication service that can do multi-disc runs, as in audiobooks, along with printing the disc and case inserts? The run would probably be in the 500 units range.

Thanks,
Steve

Over the years, these folks have always come through for me:
Discmakers
They just did 1500 dvd's for me for a Tourism Authority Video job. I use a graphic artist, but their's are superb. Allow at least 10 days for top quality and printing.

Another vote for discmaker. Two of my good singer-songwriter friends have used them multiple times and the results were very professional!

That's not a bad deal.

A lot of folks have their own CD labelers (Epson, etc.), but I'll also toss a nod to Dismakers, especially when it comes to using complicated graphics.

..........And....if you order the Disc Makers' Promo Pac, there's a good chance you will recieve one of the DVDs we produced as one of the examples. (Don't judge it by the VO on that disc--he was incredibly cheap.)

i would NOT recommend using the epson for a 500 pc. job ...

i have one and use it for SHORT runs - 5 or 10.

Yeah, that's why I went with a Primera a while back.

100 capacity, and plenty quick.

Still, if we're talking a HUGE job. It's much easier to use a service like this than to do ones and twos.

/only have the primera because it was being sold by a vendor that was going out of business... mondo cheap.

about three years ago i had a project ending in delivery of 20,000 "driving tour" CDs. i almost bought a primera then. BUT - i did the math, and it was enormously less expensive to let discmakers do the job AND i got them in less than a week. packaged, bar code, the whole deal. it would have taken me 2 months working around the clock to do it myself.

sometimes it's just better to let people do what they do best.

i still look at them though ... they're very cool.

very cool indeed... Bitchin

I've caught myself staring at the thing doing it's job on more than a few occasions.

It keeps visitors completely enamored, which lets me do my work easier. In that regard I'd have paid full price for it.

I was told there are two ways to produce/duplicate CDs. The first is to burn them. The second is by creating a metal master then hot pressing the cd (like a vinyl record), Is the second method close to the truth?

Masters can be made from different materials, but it's a fair analogy...
