Hey Deebs... remember that comment I made about an hour ago, stating that the board was working peachy keen for me?

I think I need to clarify that statement now...

Ironically, the first clock was developed to time the erm, "habits" of a particular Chinese ruler.

That's not exactly true...I think what you might be referencing is Su Sung's "Cosmic Engine" - which, among other things, was used to carefully track the moment of conception of a child with one of his ladyfriends, as the Chinese considered a person to be a person from the moment of conception, not the moment of birth. From this point of view, knowing exactly when a child was conceived was important from the standpoint of determining an Emperor's heirs and thier hierarchy.

But Su Sung's wasn't the first such clock...a Chinese astronomer named Chang Ssu-hsun created the first clock of that type in 976-977.

And even before that, water clocks were in use as early as 4000 - 1600 BC in India, China, Babylon and Egypt.

I'm just saying'

I was referring to a water clock which is reputed by Chinese legend to be the first actual clock and was used to time how long the ruler of that particular area had either each of his concubines.

Late night Discovery channel on Friday night... weird stuff.
