Some pages load a bit faster, but it's still kinda pokey. Has anything at your ISP changed in the past couple of weeks? Could it be that the database connection or the database itself is slowing things down?

I'm wondering if GoDaddy has changed database managers to PhP5? That happened with my ISP and it affected some databases. worth checking out, after you back up your database of course...

If you're running on Godaddy, indeed, they made some changes within the last couple of weeks. Not sure about the details of the change, though.

I always back up this database!!!
We were hacked by Turks several years ago and it took Scratch days and days to get things back up the way they were. I'll have to ask Godaddy what up.

It could just be system overload.

Low-cost ISPs always promise huge disk & transfer quotas, but if you calculate out the cost of bandwidth, hardware, software, support, etc. etc. etc., there is no possible way they could actually deliver the total sum of what every account includes to all customers at the same time.

So when things start to get really busy, everything just sorta slows down some. Or lots, depending.

Geardre,

It seems to be a bit on the slow side, but that can well be because EVERYTHING in The Caribbean is slow, hehehe. We'll just post messages in a higher tempo, no worries Wink

It's been so slow lately that I've taken to opening a crossword puzzle in another screen and I solve a few clues while waiting for it cycle through to the next page. Multi-tasking when I can.....

Add another one to the "using crossword puzzles while waiting for page to load" list.

Well, crap.

I have come to believe that it is the "upgrade" to the new phpBB architecture that I did a couple of weeks ago.

I have a shell of this site running elsewhere on the same server and it is as fast as this place used to be— two things, though: it's not handling the full databaseand it is using the previous phpBB version. I will mess about with it to see if it's the BB structure and I may take this place down for part of a day to re-load it in the previous version.

SORRY FOR THE TIME SUCK EVERYONE!

Another thing that is happening, to at least a couple of us, is that it is no longer remembering me as a login. In fact I have come back later and tried to log in but noticed that I was already there and I was being asked to log in. It's like when I left the site....I didn't leave. make any sense? PM or call me if you need more explanation.

Well said Mags. I donated not too long ago too. I know all the great friends I have made and the additional knowledge I have picked-up from others here on this board is worth much, much, much, much more than the money I sent via Paypal. That was four muches.....is it muchs or muches? Ha!

Show some love, peeps. DB works hard for all of us.
