You should never lowball
I must give repeated introductory discounts to secure a long term future.

You should never play the pay to play website game
I must have a presence on such sites for SEO purposes only

Free auditions are a waste of time
I need to practise my craft and so interesting auditions are useful

Top voice = Top coach
Top coach = out of work voice

An agent will get you a job
Have you ever READ Job?

Only put things on your CV you've done
A CV is a good place to prove you have a vivid imagination

Never have a photo of you on your VO website
People deal with people so it really helps NOT knowing who you are

A $60 Chinese mic will do
A $60 Chinese VO artist is taking money from good, honest, people.

ISDN is a thing of the past
So is money, try making a good living without it

The Movie trail mic is the Sennheiser MKH416
Don La Fontaine uses a Manley Reference mic just to annoy you

Blogging on VO is easy
It used to be spelled plagiarism

You know you're doing well as a VO when other VO's admire you.
No, it's when they hate you and Plumbers shout "you charge HOW MUCH!"

Actors are well prepared for Voice Over work
The world needs more umemployed optimists

Producers are always looking for new voices
So why do we spend all our time and money trying to sound like the old voices?

You want to do movie trailers
I want Penelope Cruz to mop my brow ...Ok, bad example!

Ah, I am being very unfair and using a wee in joke. This is a sideways swipe at Mr B which involves the very lovely Ms Cruz. Mr Banks was taken ill at a session which included Penelope (or the gorgeous P as she will now be known) and she literally was mopping his brow.

Have I ever told you all how much I hate him. Wink
