Hello Ladies and Gents!

I've been a member for a few months, but never got a chance to introduce myself. I am Cameron Griffith, originally from Jacksonville, Florida, currently living on the island of Oahu.; I have been here for over 5 years now, but looking forward to leave the island around the summer of 2009--most likely I will end up in San Diego, CA. I am new to the VO scene, but I have had some previous experience in the radio field prior to my entrance into the service(USN). I practically grew up in the radio station because my father "Jack O'Brien" was a sales manager for WIVY(Y-103), WNZS, and more. He used to bring my brother and I do some Burger King spots and Orange Park Mall spots "Santa's coming to town" etc. When I was 10(I think), I received $25 dollars to do a Baptist Medical spot. I was pretty stoked because that much money was alot for a ten year old. When I worked at Clear Channel Radio of Jacksonville, the creative service director allowed me to do a few things here and there, nothing to significant.

Anyways, enough babbling.. I decided a year ago that this is something I want to get into and one day it will be my primary job. "This stuff is in my blood, and I am willing to donate at any given time" I bought a mic, interface, and software.. so I am ready to jam! Already, I am pretty impressed beacuse this site is a wealth of knowledge.. so people like me are going to take a advantage every minute of it.

Here's something I did the other day.. I am always open for suggestions to help enhance my VO career. Thanks for your time and Mahalo!

Cameron,

Welcome to the VO-BB. Here are a few quick thoughts for you...

1. You have a clean, young sound. Very today.
2. You need to finish your lines, your thoughts. Most obvious example is the line that ends "...throughout the solar system." Listen to how your voice drops away as you (almost) complete that line.
3. Production is pretty decent. A bit thin sounding, but that might be the sound you wanted.

I hope this is helpful.

Hi Cameron, a nice big welcome from another island!

I agree with what Bob said, but just spending time in this here great forum means learning and learning and learning... Wink Even for the most experienced throats among us there's always room for improvement.

Have fun!

I'm with Bob on this. More to the point, I could tell that this was a cut and paste job (or at least sounded like it; pitch went wild in the middle of things to me)

And I've got to tell you, it just sounded like words. Again, where's the excitement. I do spots like this for narration all the time (new technologies), there's got to be love, excitement, anticipation. If you're not totally into this thing, why should I?

IMO (and it's just that), you rouse a strong emotion from me with this read and I'll be more willing to let some of the other stuff pass. Without it though, it stands out more (if that makes any sense).

Welcome to the board Smile

Thanks for all of your responses.

I will work on the excitement part.. the old man told me that "smiling" Laugh will help out my delivery a little more. In any event, thanks again for your responses. Time to do some more!

Mahalo and Aloha!
