Like my old man used to say, "keep it simple but not simple minded".
Go with "Voice Actor"
Drop Professional
Lose the thinking balloons and the puddle.
The colors are drab
Here is a little something we've been kickin' around the office for the next demo reel cover.

Thanks Bob
Took an afternoon to put that together, a little bit of this and that and healthy dose of photoshop. It's more or less my little homage to Yazoo or Yaz (depending on what side of the pond you're on) since they are finely touring again.
We're just pulling together the campaign for it, bringing everything into one cohesive package- web, cards, postcards the whole nine! I got he boys workin' day and nigh... oh, excuse me!
(gets up and walks over to sleeping worker)
Mike: WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH YOU??!!!
Worker: I'm tired
Mike: You're Tired? Tired of WHAT??!!! Get back to work!
(walks back over to the computer)
Anyway, every-thing's coming along fine.

Melissa, I swear that they find me.
Even your recommended person turned out to be a dead end (because she's booked from now to eternity). Like I said before, all the good ones are taken. On the upside, I finally got a hold of the graphic artist who did my business card (which I love). He's taking on the job and will hopefully have something in the next week or so. Seriously, it's not about the $, it's trying to find a good one who's free in the next 6 months.
Kind of reminds me of my love life when I was in my 20s, but that's another story.
Mike, I feel the same way about the image, but I'll do you one better... I have no intention of ever using it for my brand. It's not who I am, nor who I want my clients & prospective clients to think I am.
As for your imagery, I like it but I have two overriding thoughts when I see it:
1) you're a woman (which I don't think is the case)
2) you're about to mount a tactical assault upon my workplace
just saying... _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

Thanks Greg for your comments I appreciate and consider all .
Actually that was a male mannequin we used, and the head gear is a virtual reality video screen unit with a credit card scanner tacked to the front and a camera. Understand it's not the total identity, what you see here is just background cover art for the CD, there is much more involved with the back and insides that have all kinds of eye candy. This is just an attention grabber.
I got tired of seeing close ups of mouths and microphones and lord knows what all. I said none of that, so we approached it like an 80's album cover.
I figured, ya got to take risks. _________________ The Blog:

Stick some sideburns or a goatee on him and you're golden.

i also thought: how can he/she see the script taped to the VR device ... _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

Well Jeff, it is an AT&T keypad IIRC (they used the weirdest clips to fasten things).
BTW: Mike, where do you think those headsets containing the VR HW originated from...? Back in the late 80s, funding wasn't that good for these technologies from the private sectors. _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

| Actuly that's the instructions to operate the "Voice Man Delux"
The head set and the instructions are seen clearly on a table on the back cover, yet it lends itself to be a script "on initial inspection" which is why it works. But if you think to hard about it the whole set up doesn't make sense, but that's the fun of it. If you're too literal, you're lost on this, it's static performance art. I find that most folks that don't get it don't get Herbie Handcock's video "Rocket".

It's just meant to be a striking image, nothing more nothing less, and that's how people remember you.

Like I said... originated.
It's like folks who think NASA developed the shuttle. Hate to break it to them but most of the folks who develop this stuff might be funded by the govt, but they don't usually work for them... the pay sucks.
I'll send along the pic to some of my fellow developers back at Bell. Good to see stuff still on the outside, even if not being used for it's original purpose. _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser
