Bob,

Since we have your attention:
Is it fair to say it is more important to express the emotion behind the word, than to actually feel that emotion while you are doing it?

And, how high is the Wow! factor bar these days? sometimes I'm not to impressed by what I'm hearing on the TV these days or is it the poor quality "studio executive controlled" scripts that are fooling me?

As for film animation, it seems studios would rather have a major star voice a character then invest time into finding or developing one, is that fair statement?

Good questions, Mike.

Though I'm not sure I'm following your first one.

The emotion you express has to be organic and real. Should it be for every word? If that works in the moment. Your choices in emotion and acting will come easier to you with acting technique. It's far too involved to just go into quickly here. If this doesn't help ya, ask again and I'll give it another shot.

The "wow" factor bar is higher than ever! With online casting there are far more competing than ever before. the numbers of agents haven't gone up, but the numbers of people looking for agents has skyrocketed. Therefore, if you stand a chance you'd better "wow" em. And if animation is a goal, it's close to impossible to get the auditions without an agent.

You may not be as "wow'd" by what you hear on TV, but you need to wow em to get the opportunity to get on TV. Your demo, and your audition will usually be more creative with more risks than the actual job. But it's getting of the job where you need to "wow" em.

As for animated features, it is true that celebs usually play the leads. But there is plenty of work in feature animation for the non celeb. I myself have never played the lead in an animated feature. But I've worked on oodles of em. And I get the same residual rate the celebs get. I'm currently working on 2 Pixar featuers and 2 Disney features. None of these I play a lead. But the work is fun, and the residuals, as I said, will be great.

There's plenty of work for everyone!!!! The well known, and the not so well known.
