well I guess since most of their products are overpriced junk, they've got to do something to stay out of the red.

The best part is how they sued Disney over Monsters Inc. Yeah, as if anyone would confuse an animated movie with overpriced cables.

gimme a break.

Probably anybody with deep pockets...

Oh, right. Duh. Somehow that didn't register (long, yukky day for this household...). I did notice that no one mentioned any of the outcomes of the previous suits.

Wow, yet another reason to dislike Monster Cable. Unbelievable.

I guess Frankenstein should watch his back. Or at least switch from referring to himself as a "monster" to referring to himself as "humanity-challenged" or some such.

reminds me a little of the lawsuit warner bros issued against the marx brothers for the title of one of their later (and lesser) movies, "a night in casablanca". warners indicated they owned the name "casablanca", since their bogart classic pre-dated the marx's comedy.

groucho wrote them back reminding them that they'd need to consider suing all the mapmakers who dared print "casablanca" over its geographic location...and closed his argument with the assertion the marxes had been brothers longer than the warners had and he was planning a counter-suit demanding the studio drop the word "brothers" from its name.

no more legal threats were issued. (groucho indicated he only wished the movie had turned out as well.)

Monster Cable just received the legal equivalent of a b$%@h slapping when they tried this against a minor competitor.

One can only hope that the CEO of that company will offer his assistance to this mom & pop operation.

Deirdre,

As to whether it's true or not, I can't say with certainty; but I can tell you I remember reading that story in Groucho's autobiography a number of years ago. So, Groucho certainly believed it was true.
