Thanks... I'll take that as a compliment. Look me up when you get there.

it most certainly is a well deserved comment. And Adam had nothing but praise for you guys there.
Make sure to have a few drinks with him if you can this year.
If I attend, I promise that I will attempt to get into everything I can without a badge.
/I usually pick mine up from the booth... given the way things work, you can see the Catch-22 nature of this approach, but still I've managed to do it without question or difficulty at every con I've ever been to (including every Comic Con I've been to). _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

I did meet/talk with him a bit last year... after he got 'the deer in the headlights' look out of his eyes. Mentioning your name did have a calming effect on him.

If I do that, I wont be able to get in for free anymore.

We'll have to swap cell numbers if you go... just incase someone gets into trouble.

I am definitely going, and looking forward to it. It'll be nice to meet you Greg, Caryn, and all others for the first time who are attending this year. Even though I'll be working the event again I hope to scrounge a little bit 'o hangin' with Courvo, Bob, Kara and others I met last year.
FYI The price is now extended until 7/31, and there are day passes now available. I know James & Penny have undertaken a huge risk to put this on, and there have been enormous challenges. I feel they've been very transparent and responsive to the community. Some people have been bad-mouthing the whole thing, some unprofessional , unfair and outright hurtful comments without any experience of last year's event, and appear hell-bent on seeing it fail.
This event has been in various stages of planning and execution since VOICE 2007 was over, which was 14 months ago. What's happened since to the US economy is enormous. It costs a lot more to travel anywhere now. Almost daily!
I called James and asked about registrations. Registered participants are over 50% ahead of last year, and the event is still over 3 months away. AFTRA is now the premier sponsor and preparing to get the word out to some 40,000 members, many of whom do not engage on these boards. Why not sweeten the pot with incentives? If I had everything at risk, I'd do everything necessary to ensure success. It's sales & marketing 101.
We're all facing our own economic issues, but I believe it is an incredible value for what I am getting. I just learned there's a Sunday evening promos panel with some of the top promo voices in the industry.
Yes, its a drag and sorry that Frank isn't involved, and I will miss him, but the lineup is going to be incredibly educational, and the networking opportunities are stellar, in my view.
So, I am going anyway. I feel the need to connect with other vo's out there , a community fragmented by distance and mostly isolated work existences, I am looking forward getting into the synergy as we learn more about how to get better at what we do. _________________ Bobbin Beam

i'm curious about bruce's survey as it relates to numbers of attendees for this years' VOICE, and particularly the number of returns this year from last. i recall a show of hands in vegas of who in attendance was a wanna-be, n00b, part-timer or full-time voicer. there were a lot of folks in the first 2 categories, so i'm wondering how it fleshed out for them in this time between vegas and today when they need to make a decision as to whether it'll be worthwhile. and, of course, whether things started to simmer for them after VOICE 2007.
moments later ... stop the car!
i see results in another thread, and here are the deets i wanted. maybe you do, too:
It's been 2 and a half days since I posted the survey and here are the results, all numbers are rounded:
Of the respondents:
63% attended VOICE 2007
33% will be attending VOICE 2008
Of those who attended VOICE 2007:
40% will go to this year's conference
60% will not go again this year _________________ sitting at #8, though not as present as I'd like to be. Hello!

Actually, since I was the one who asked about who was who in the room, and have recently listened to the recording as I was getting it ready to put onto CD, the general percentages are fresh in my mind. Wannabes were actually the fewest - with the rest of the audience split between Noobs, Part-time and Full-time. At least that was what people fessed up to... _________________ Playing for a living...
