..."It takes considerable knowledge just to realize the extent of your ignorance." - Thomas Sowell

Mr. Sowell is not the author of the book I refer to, but the author thought enough of the quote to include it.

I thought it was priceless.

Great quote Doc! By Mr. Sowell's definition I'm a genius! Shocked Raising teenagers is another way to keep one humble. I'm consistantly reminded of all the things I don't know about!

I only wish I knew half as much as I think I do.

"Now I know what I don't know."

That may be the highest compliment I ever received as a teacher.

I wish I knew 1/10th as much as Bob wishes he knew.

Which would be...um...let's see...1/2 of Bob's knowledge x 1/10th = ... uh...I think...I think I have to use pi to calculate this, right? Carry the 4...silent 'z'...aw shoot, forget it...

It is wonderful when people move from unconsciously incompetent to consciously incompetent! I spend most of my time at consciously competent these days - with a sprinkling of unconsciously competent. activities...some of them voiceover related.

Tom,

I hate to disagree, but I think my wife, Cinda, would point out that it actually takes a woman; at least she manages it most days! Laugh

I've maintained for years that the smartest people are not the ones who are heard consistently asserting, "I know-" or "Let me tell you-" but rather "I don't know...would you tell me about that?"

Smartypants are curious people who are aware not only of the limits to what they know, but that knowledge is not hard and finite.. but fluid and in need of fertilization...which is why I'm such a great guy to have around, since I am not infrequently reminded that I am oh so full of sh-

Yikes, gotta run-
Finish that thought later...

I totally agree and love that jewel of a concept from Elaine Clark's book, too!
