Oh yeah! I've seen ALL his YouTube videos, too! Explode

Seriously, though. I've said this before and will continue to say it: This is the kind of gig one should work toward. The entire cast deserves what they get.

Yep.

Good for those guys! They've had such an enormous impact on the culture of this country. Heck— the world!

How the heck much to some pro sports guys get paid for playing a game?
There should be no bitching over the fabulous creations of these folks who bring so much pleasure to so many people.

For complex reasons (not understood by me), there is resentment of people who manage to make a decent living.

I can't tell you how many wannabes have told me, "I do Ren & Stimpy really good!"

And I say, "There's a guy who already does that. What else do you do?"

And they say, "But I do 'em really good!"

And I say, "Next!"

Great that these folks are being recognized for their hard work by getting the green! that really does emphasize their contributions.

I don't get why others would be so mean-spirited about people who do good work and get paid for it. But, there is that subset of people who are envious of anyone else's good fortune, and they have to be Gollum about it...

We have been self-employed for a number of years now, and we haven't starved. Yet, we have a former friend who sent a few disparaging emails about being self-employed... never mind that we have been successful at what we do, it's the "self employed" part that he thought was low-class.

yet... yet... we find out later he's been laid off from the energy exploration company he worked for... so, methinks there was a bit of jealousy there...

cc:

i've been self-employed since the mid-nineties, and i can tell you that around here there has been a certain stigma attached to it.

however, as more and more of these high-paid types begin losing their salaried jobs at the huge corporations in the area...i've noticed that somehow, being "self employed" has acquired a certain nobility!

good on the simpsons voice crew. i'm sure no one at the network minds profiting from their "voice talking".

that's just it. it's ok for executives and the big corporations to make tons of money (even though they don't have anything to do with the show aside from selling it to advertisers), but when those who are directly responsible for the show (i.e. writers, actors or voice talent) they get labeled greedy when they ask for their fair share. i just don't get it.

from a fan's perspective i just hope harry shearer's deal gets done. can't imagine anyone else voicing mr. burns (as well as the others he does).

Oh, come on folks, we all know why people resent other peoples' success...because the naysayers feel like they've been cheated out of something in life and the successful folks have gotten what they've gotten "unfairly".

Look, this part of life DEFINITELY ain't fair...some people have natural good looks, some have natural talent for things. While medical science and the plastics industry (ahem) have done wonders to allow people to fake natural good looks, there ain't a whole lot you can do about faking talent.

So for these talented actors, who have likely put in a goodly amount of practice and hard work as well, they're seen by a lot of people as getting lots and lots of money and fame for "doing nothing".

Heck, even when I was married before, my wife-at-the-time used to tell people that I "played video games" for a living. Let me assure you that producing video games is nowhere near as fun or relaxing as playing video games. It's project management...and project management that usually involves a lot of whining babies, to be perfectly honest. Project managing whining babies is not fun, for at least 98% of the time.

But I digress...

A certain type of person will always be resentful of the success of others, because either they feel like they themselves didn't win the genetic lottery or because they're too scared or lazy to make their life what they want it to be.

The rest of us can laugh while watching The Simpsons and, perhaps, think "Yeah! That's gonna be me someday!" and work our butts off to get there.

So I wonder if they're just getting the flat rate or if they also get resudals...?

It would seem to me that only one person has any reason to feel that way in regards to the Simpsons...

Yeah, but he did them first... which is why he's getting residuals, and you're not.

What else you got for me?

Actually, the marketing folks deal with the advertisers. I've yet to see an executive actually do anything at a large organization.

My personal favorite is how the ones at my company try to hide their salary, because every time it becomes public, they have to answer why they got a 20% raise, and the guys doing the real innovation are getting 3%.

/yet somehow we're spending millions to understand why so many people are leaving the company Rolls Eyes
