True Story: I started in in the business as an ad agency producer/writer. (I know, your favorite people.) I was hired by an agency specializing in food products and supermarket chains. I was assigned my first spot for which I wanted to hit a home run. Naturally.
The radio spot was due to air quickly after the VO session. My female talent showed up, and we rolled tape. Oh no!! Although she sounded great on the demo tape, she had a terrible sibilance. Every S sounded like it was blown through a flute.
"What's the problem," I asked? "Oh my, I went to the dentist yesterday and had some work done!", she cried. "I've got a big problem, don't I?"
Well, yes. We both had a problem. The name of the radio campaign was: Shaws Supermarkets Special Savings Celebration.
No kidding.
Well, thank God for small favors. In another session in the same studio, a good VO talent was just finishing up. I grabbed her quickly and she saved the day. And my career. |

ya think?
Reminds me of when the lead for a musical decided to have shoulder length hair chopped short (2" maybe) during tech week. It looked good on her, but since she was playing the role of Eliza in "My Fair Lady", the totally threw off the director.
Some tense moments there for a while... _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

reminds me of the old "WKRP in Cincinnati" episode when the ad sales guy came up with the ad copy about the snake sale...
