I believe it was two years ago I had a military grade double prop helicopter lifting air conditioning units onto the roof of a near by manufacturing plant just on the other side of the 50 foot mound of dirt/grass between our housing development and the plant.

When that thing came in initially....I thought the world was "game over". Even the strongest booths could not keep that noise out. After I scraped myself off the floor, I took a picture of the chopper (which I do not have anymore...I don't think) and sent it to a client to let them know the reason for the cancelled session. They were there on and off for two hours lifting AC units on the new wing of the plant.

Other than that....we have a guy across the way that has a mower that sounds like a Cessna 5. He runs when he mows because he is embarassed it is so loud. Not sure why he doesn't get a new muffler for the mower. He doesn't seem to be the most handy of dudes. Luckily my booth blocks the noise of his Cessna Mower.

My room fan (95 degrees in Cambridge), Woodpecker, same car alarm kept going off. I think if anyone even looks at this car the alarm goes off.

Is the car, by chance, named Herbie? Or Christine? Cuz that would be creepy. Either way.

Pleasantly quiet now, but before I left New York we were plagued by a woodpecker that continuously pecked away right outside our window from dawn till dusk (literally) and the sound of birds constantly flying in and out of some vent in our kitchen (landlord=unresponsive jerk . . . last year the birds built a nest in there as evidenced by the creepy and frequent fluttering as mom & dad built the nest followed by baby birds squawking all dang day for a month, and when I called to complain he said the last tenants "didn't mind." Needless to say, the birds still have access to the vent--which is in the cabinet above our stove--and even though there's no way for the birds to actually get inside the apartment, I am beyond CREEPED OUT).

I thought living in NYC would mean the end of wildlife troubles!

Here's what came home to:

Must have really made a noise. If a tree falls and you are not home does...

The tree was about 50 feet tall and about 16 - 18" in diameter at the base. It is a Eucalyptus tree, which are infamous for shallow roots.

(edited for typos)
