Hello there,
Nice clean design, which is always a good thing. Text is pretty easily readable, although the white over orange in the callout box is a bit tougher for me, being that I'm somewhat colorblind (many people are).
Drop the hit counter!
The following suggestions are pretty minor...your site is very straightforward
Your logo is illustrated, the "Call me!" callout is illustrated. The headphones are a photograph, which then just kinda looks wrong, so you might want to consider changing that graphic to something else so that it matches better.
On your Demos page, incorporate swfobject to get rid of the bounding box around the Flash audio players.
Make sure your language fits your personality and the kind of audience you want to work with, such as making sure you're saying "I am" if that's want you want, or changing it to "I'm" if not. Example "...I am able to quickly provide you with..." on the Studio page.
On your links page, change your links to open in a new window so that people aren't leaving your site while following them.
I would dump the Google ads since none of the resulting pages are likely to include you, but are extremely likely to include competition
This is super nit-picky, but on your Contact form, the font in the comments box is form-default Courier (on Windows) so you might want to define a CSS style that handles all normal form elements so that they all look nice.
When you submit the Contact form, is there a reason that you send people to a very plain page that doesn't match the rest of your site? It would be better to send them back to the Contact page, with a note that their message was received, etc. Or a separate confirmation page, but one that looks like the rest of the site. _________________ Lou Zucaro

i didn't check any of your links, but am posting with my at-first-blush comment.
it looks like an amalgam of voice 123 and voices.com. did you intend that to be the case? i'm not saying whether that's good or bad, and am indifferent about it. just curious. _________________ sitting at #8, though not as present as I'd like to be. Hello!

Lou - Thanks again for the feedback - I've already made a few changes - including banishing the hit counter.
I'm trying to figure out the flash issue you mentioned - I don't see any bounding boxes for the flash - what browser & OS are you using - can send me a screenshot?? I've looked at it in Safari & Mozilla on OSX, and in IE7 on Vista - and don't see any boxes.
Diane - Umm, not Voice123 - but I did get some color inspiration from Voices, my original colors were a little autumn-ish as seen here:

Hi,
I was using IE7 under XP at work when I saw the bounding boxes.
Here at home, IE7 under Vista, I'm not seeing them.

Michael
As far as design goes, I consulted with a bunch of web-heads prior to designing my site, and they said that you should always have your product or what you are selling on the homepage so clients don't have to hunt for it. In our case, that would be demos. That way, no distractions, and the reason they are going to hire you is right there.

Echoing the above:
If you are offering one service, i.e. Voiceover, make your demos playable from the front page.
Also— I can see that your page is set to float center, but I am not happy with the white space in the upper left— too much for my designer's eye.
I like the very straightforward style of the page.
Do you want to consider having a place where someone can download your demos?
edited to fix an egregious typo. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Thanks again to everyone for your insights - does anyone know of a client login system or script? I currently password protect a directory for clients - and supply them with a custom login name and password - it's a little clunky - I would like something a little more polished.
I'll probably rework the page(s) a bit too to add the demos to the front page - and expand the main content area - crowding out some of the white space
This will also help to incorporate a blog into the site with a greater chance of consistent look and feel. |
