Hello all,

I'm a newcomer to the VO-BB. I've lurked here for several months, and registered a couple weeks ago. So, I think it's high time for me to introduce myself to the board. I live in the seacoast area of NH, a stone's throw from DB. I miss Moe Egan's voice on WGIR-AM, and I dream of meeting Pat Fraley someday.

I'm fairly new to the VO game; I do narration for an online learning system for a Boston publisher, and have narrated some software training videos for dental offices.

My request is for advice on a place to have my demo(s) done, somewhere between Boston and Portland, ME. I gotten my gigs via custom demos, but I don't have a professional demo to shop around. I think I'd like to do a narration or e-learning demo first, and then try my commercial demo after that.

Thanks in advance, and nice meeting you all.

Keith

Keith,

Welcome to the VO-BB. May I suggest that our dear Deirdre is a mighty fine coach. I don't know if she offers demo production, but I'd sure check with her to find out.

Woa. Keith, you made my day! Blushing (N3) A huge-normous welcome to the VO-BB to a former Mike and Moe in the Morning listener (yea, that was the name of my radio show- I dig alliteration.)

I tell ya, I loved doing radio - that show in particular....but it ain't nothing like livin the VO life. As far as where locally to get demos made- I really can't help ya there, I've (so far) produced all my own demos, yea, yea I know you're not supposed to.... I would recommend some VO training or even acting training before putting a demo together. Sharpen that tool, then show it off!

Glad you jumped in the dolphin pool. A hearty welcome from a fellow Granite Stater.

Sorry I dropped off the face of the earth for a week! Thank you all the warm welcome.

Chrissy - I'll check out Chart Productions. I'm a survivor of the Connecticut School of Broadcasting, and Jordan Rich taught a class on Talk Radio. He was very gracious, offering every student the chance to visit WBZ and sit in on his overnight show. Only one other student and I took him up on the offer.

Laura - the avatar is a painting entitled, "Smirk." It hangs on the wall at the Green Parrot bar in Key West, FL. As I sat at the bar, I was sure Smirk was staring right at me. I've been entranced ever since. Shocked

Moe - thanks for the advice regarding training. I've had some training: I trained in VO with Susan Berkley, Nancy Wolfson of Braintracks Audio, Alan Sklar, Diana Boylston, and Adriana Davis. I have had additional training in audiobook recording with Alan Sklar, George Guidall, and audiobook producer John McElroy. I absolutely need to attend an acting workshop, and get more VO coaching. I can never stop learning, and that's what makes VO so cool.

I look forward to chatting with all of you more. Thanks again for the welcome.

Keith

Hey Keith,

I am a Nancy Wolfson grad, she rocks! Sounds like you have had more than enough training to hit the ground running.

Happy Voicing! (unless the script calls for something different.... Wink )
