1 – We are able to accurately edit our resumes to make us appear better than we are yet audio editors appear able to edit us to reveal the extent to which we lied on our resumes.
2 – We are not allowed due to contractual reasons to reveal the names and clients who give us the really big gigs whereas Tom Cruise is allowed to speak freely about Top Gun and Mission Impossible.
3 – We have two mics, a Neumann U87 and a $50 large capsule condenser and a photo of us in front of the latter is the only one we are able to share.
4 - Our Coach is convinced we’ll make a million yet declines a profit share in favour of a $200 fee.
5 – Our whisper rooms are so accoustically correct they mute the echo emanating from an empty bank account.
6 – Only 10 people make money from pay to play sites and we are all able to name at least 300 of them.
7 – Everyone wants to do station imaging, only the ambitious aspire to work involving complete sentences
8 - Auditioning is practise for what we are likely to be doing later in our careers. Other good ways are, gazing out of the window for 3 hours at a time and defragging your hard drive.
9 – Our demo’s are all only 1 min long but to most Agents, Casting Directors and Producers they seem longer, much longer.
10 – Only in our world is the description “average” considered marketing hype. |

Cry me a river... when they threaten jail time I'll pay attention.
*pharmaceuticals and spots for lawyers get a pass... they're really big on NDAs.

I always love this one. Between that and seeing pics of your own place on someone else's Website.

I like # 4:
4 - Our Coach is convinced we’ll make a million yet declines a profit share in favour of a $200 fee.

And don't forget number 11:
Despite how busily employed we claim to be, there is always time to post words of wisdom or complaint on voiceover forums and personal blogs, which we justify by including our website addresses and call "part of our extensive internet marketing campaign".

Laura,
Well said. (You too, Mr. Banks.) I'm sure I'm guilty of most if not all. _________________ Be well,
