Yep, we get tornadoes in Arizona too. I think the count is up to 4 now in the past fifty years. I was "lucky" enough to be near or under one of them. Three of us grown d.j.'s went hiding under desks at the radio station when we heard the "locomotive" coming. We had opened all the exterior doors just before it came by and afterward we found dozens of acoustical tiles in the newsroom had been sucked away from the ceiling and walls. Sheesh.
I'll take the heat versus living in twister alley any day.

I lived in DeKalb, Illinois for a couple of years, and I'll never forget the red dust funnels we used to get there, living amongst the corn fields. For a NYC girl, it was very surreal.
Hope all is settled and safe there now.
