For those who remember this story and those who do not, this man, Randy Pausch, faced death with dignity. Randy died today. Below is the story:

Randy Pausch, the Carnegie Mellon University computer scientist whose "last lecture" about facing terminal cancer became an Internet sensation and a best-selling book, died Friday. He was 47.

Pausch died at his home in Chesapeake, Va., said Jeffrey Zaslow, a Wall Street Journal writer who co-wrote Pausch's book. Pausch and his family had moved there last fall to be closer to his wife's relatives.

Pausch was diagnosed with incurable pancreatic cancer in September 2006. His popular last lecture at Carnegie Mellon in September 2007 garnered international attention and was viewed by millions on the Internet.

In it, Pausch celebrated living the life he had always dreamed of instead of concentrating on impending death.

"The lecture was for my kids, but if others are finding value in it, that is wonderful," Pausch wrote on his Web site. "But rest assured; I'm hardly unique."

Buy his book. It is wonderful. I read it in basically one sitting...you will laugh out loud and shed more than a few tears.

By simply wanting to leave a piece of himself behind for his own three children, he's touched so many lives. What a great way of looking at life he had. Makes me feel guilty for being such a curmudgeon most of the time.

Thanks for posting this Frank.
Its human beings like Professor Pausch that inspire me to continue to pursue VO. The words and outlook on life that Professor Pausch had have given me extra motivation to set aside all of the excuses I have had over the years and finally pursue my own dream. The dream to be a Voice Actor.

Professor Pausch may be gone physically and will surely be missed, his words will continue to inspire others for an eternity. They will certainly continue to inspire me.

Thank you Frank. I read Professor Pausch's story in the paper recently and he was an amazing human being. We must never take anything in this life for granted. Every day is a gift so try to leave behind a positive imprint and share the gift, somewhere, or in another's life...

Sorry had to edit 1 typo...

My wife is reading his book. LOTS of nuggets to take away from those pages.

She said he dictated the entire book via wireless headset while he was riding his bike to try to keep exercising. His wife didn't want him taking time away from the family to write it...

So he rode his bike instead. Perfect! I'm looking forward to watching that YouTube lecture and/or reading the book.
