Peter --

San Diego is one of my very favorite cities! I've got family and friends in both LA and SD so we're out there most every year. I could easily live there. When we're out at VOICE next week we'll be going down to San Diego afterwards to spend a few days there as well.

Glad the quake didn't hurt much, but they are mega-scary.

Glad everyone's ok!

I was in Mexico City during the 1985 'big one' (8.2). Don't EVER want to do that again...

Ok... I'll chime in.
I was in the Radiation therapy waiting room at Scripps (located in the basement) when the quake hit. I thought someone was behind me shaking my chair. I didn't spill my coffee... so there wasn't any personal loss. I was told that Scripps TP was built on a fault line... that's a pleasant thought.

Fine here in Burbank. I feel like an official Californian now. ;P It was my first earthquake so it was pretty frightening. It was pretty shaky here.

All is well. My pets were a bit freaked out for the remainder of the day, but that's about it. Smile

Michelle, now you get to learn the secret handshake...and expect your LA decoder ring in the mail in 2-3 weeks.

I lived in Encino in 71 - there was a bigg'n back then. I was too little to be scared...plus we got the day off from school so I thought that was awesome!

We had a little shake when I was at a Dan O'Day event some years back. I think the color drained from the faces of about half of us. As I recall, Christine Coyle (Famous Radio Ranch) was on stage at the time, and her only reaction was, "Oooo, that was a good one!"

Those of us heading to LA might get there just in time for the aftershocks... Sarcastic

Glad everyone's OK!

I slept through the Sylmar quake in 1971 (6.6), so I haven't consciously experienced a bad shaker. Like Scott mentioned, you couldn't notice anything happened in my brothers' and my room. Smile

Glad to hear all you guys are OK.

Whew. It's great to live here in Southern New Hampshire...where all we have to worry about are tornadoes! Gasp

Call me strange.... but I love severe weather and natural phenomons like earthquakes. I'm extremely happy that no one got hurt in the LA quake, but deep down inside, I wish I was there to experience it. W00T.gif" alt="W00T" border="0" />

I've been to LA 4xms from 2004-2007 and never experienced a shake. I grew up in northern NJ and slept thru a couple of 3.5+ magnitudes, but there was nothing to report.... Like I said, I slept thru them.

As long as no one gets hurt, that's the best news to hear. But the phycho side of me yearns to experience the shaking the earth move under my feet.

An 8.2 will cure you of that...

Um ... Allison. There are far better ways to feel the earth move under your feet, as Carole King once sang. I, for one, prefer that way.
