Shades of Millie Vinnilli and Ashley Simpson.
doG love the magic of lip-sync. Not a bad job of lip syncing though.

Deirdre,
It was the catch breath that convinced me, too. _________________ Be well,

Compare the original piece to the recorded piece. This guy is good mind you, but when I compared the original audio against this "piece" I noticed it was too perfectly matched to be someone singing this "live". My ears cannot distinguish between the original audio and this videos audio in pitch, tone, clarity, or presentation. This was a very good lip-sync and that is all.
Be extra cautious when viewing this guys mouth movements against the original music. If have ever done ADR, especially in falsetto, you will be able to see the minor flaws in the performance.
Where I caught the flaws was in the facial expressions and the mouth movements (how the lips form words)... sometimes you just cannot mimic expressions correctly. Since the lighting and camera angle is near perfect to conceal his Adam's Apple and throat it is VERY hard to distinguish from that area which would have been the "tell".
This video is very well done, but not done well enough you cannot see and hear the differences.
But, you will believe what you will believe and there is no one in the world who can change your mind.
I have to admit I was more impressed with his version of Eva Cassidy's "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" (not the "Live From Blues Alley" album which was her final recording) which was off of her second album... looked good.

I have young kids and have heard this music zillions of times. This is not the original piece. This video is lacking the harmonies present in the original and unless he has access to the original master to separate the male from the female parts, there's no way it could lip synced. His female singing is obviously falsetto, and a fair pitch lower than the female in the original song. To my ears (ears that have heard this song many many times), it's very obvious that this is not the original recording.
But now that I've typed all of this, I suspect you know it's not lip synced, Frank, and have tongue planted firmly in cheek. _________________ Jeff

Frank,
To my knowledge Brad Kane and Lea Salonga sang the original song and sound nothing like him.
Was there a version with Ashley Simpson? If there was, I doubt very much she sings as well as he does.
I don't think it's lip synch, he's taped other songs that sound like him too. I think he's just a very talented young man. _________________ www.clairedodin.com |

This video is for real...it's no lipsynch-
As freakish as this guy's vocal instrument may be, the dead giveaway is that he is markedly FLAT many times within the song - (less so during the falsetto, interestingly)-
No professional recording, Disney or otherwise, would have gone out without major pitch correction on this track-
It's a gag, a joke, a boner and absolutely real...because the performance is, musically, under par.

I'm going to go with F2 on this.
I think he's lip-synching too... but.... to his own voice. I think the track was recorded before the video. _________________ Dave "Christi" Felton
