For you other studio geeks out there.

I'm researching and budgeting for the new studio build and came across this gem from RealTraps:

http://www.realtraps.com/p_planter.htm

Now that's a bass trap my wife can live with. I don't need it for my studio but I'm seriously thinking about something like that for the living room. One of those in each corner would be seriously cool on movie night.

Thanks for that, BH. I'm setting up a recording job in a municpal room that is hard as a rock canyon. These will be perfect to soften the room sound and looks.

Brian,

I agree with Willie. Amazing find.

Very cool...but I'd like to hear a sample test of this trap vs. a standard real planter filled with dirt placed in a corner.

Email Ethan and ask. He might even do such a test, lol. If you look at the data you can see they don't hold a candle to the Mondo Traps but they are cool and I can see where they'd be quite useful in situations like Willie's.

By the by you can also put real plants in them instead of fake ones. Now how's that work?

I've used these in the past. They were all right, but nothing spectacular...

until we put live plants in them. Seemed to really effect things for some reason.

Don't know if they were realtraps, but for that particular room, it worked nicely.
