Hi guys!

Some time ago there was a discussion listing various recommendations for putting 'music players' (I think that's what they're called) onto your website so peeps could click on different selections to hear your different demos - one at a time.

I've gone through all the past discussions by using the "search" facility and I can't find that forum posting with its threads.

Can anybody recall where I can look on this forum to find some recommendations? I'm redoing my website, and now need a way to put some demos on.

Thanks guys!

Stefania,

Click here for a thread that links to the Wordpress flash player.

as a temporary check out Humyo.com
Free online storage up to 30GB, with free embedding and streaming.
Basically you get a flash code just like youtube that you can put on blogs and websites.

Not a permanent solution, but a great temp.

I cannot recommend the Wimpy Players enough. You can customize the size, shape and colors of the player to match the design of your site and you get immediate play (no loading time).

Thanks gang for your forum and PM tips.

I think I've got it sorted. You're all great. Fantastic! The new website isn't online for viewing yet, still got more demos to load.

There is a way to use Youtube to do this. A guy named Chadd Pierce posted about this. You post your VO and adjust the player height (in both places) in the embedded code to read 25. That way it just shows the audio bar.

The top picture is the way it would normally look.

The bottom in the same video with "25" in the code.
Youtube gives you an embed code to use. Just change the height to 25 like this:
width="425" height="25"
You have to do it two places in the code.

That's pretty cool. Just keep in mind that YouTube audio usually leaves a bit to be desired in the bitrate dept.

I stream using a solution that Kevin Genus posted about a long time ago in the archives. It's free, and simple too. I love Dan-O's little player on his website though too.

I'm b-a-a-a-ack!

I thought I had this sorted by using a Blogcastone that I found on the web. It's by the same guy who did the wordpress flash player. It's basically the same thing except you can choose colours. I also tried using the wordpress flash player.

Some files work fine. But some files just show "buffering" when I click the 'play' button. What's all this buffering about, and is there anything I can do about it?

I have my sound files located on a site called 'Fileden' as I tried to load them by storing them in my website 'documents' area, and I just get a file error message when I tried to use them with this Blogcastone or the Wordpress flash player.

Any solutions for this'buffering' situation?

Thanks guys!

For the record, I use the Embedded MP3 Audio Player on my page. I wouldn't use Youtube because of the reasons stated above. Now, I do have about 80 home videos on it and that's fun.

If this is your profession, I'd get a web host and post your demos from your own site. But, that wasn't the question.

I understand your point perfectly Bill. No worrries. YouTube's not quite right for me.

I've done a bit more fiddling, and I'm getting to grips -- bit by bit -- with the idiosyncrascies of my new site, & the embedded player as described above.

Now, I just have to do the domain transfer to switch over from the old site and activitate the new site with my present domain name.

Thanks for your kind advice!

If I can add one word of advice. I suggest that you never purchase or manage your domain name from the same place as your web host. If a web host suspends your site (as they can do if something goes wrong in shared hosting) they also shut down control of the DNS of your domain and it's next to impossible to redirect to another site.

Just my $.02.

Yeah, you're right.

I'm learning that one by my experience now!

Luckily I'm getting out before they close this part of their biz and the fellow working there is helping me sort out the domain transfer. So it should work!

Then as to the new website -- this time the web and domain are totally separate! Embarrassed

Thanks! Smile

Dan, I am trying to use the Wimpy Wasp player and having trouble.
Would you email me when you have the time and I will tell you what I've done so far.

Thanks!
