Is there a way to do this?

I have my first ISDN session tomorrow (yea!) and would like to record it if possible.

But I've tried running the XLR cables etc. from the pre-amp into the codec and to the audio interface and vice versa, to no avail. Usually if there's a way to do this kind of thing I can figure it out.

But so far to no avail.

No big deal, but if anyone has any enlightenment it is appreciated.

BTW the codec is a Musicam Road Warrior if that makes any difference
pre-amp Avalon 737, interface=MOTU Ultralite.

Thanks!

Are you using a mixer at all? Usually the easy way to feed the ISDN and your DAW is to run an aux send from your mic channel to the codec's input and then feed your DAW with either the mixers main out or alt 3-4 bus (ala Mackie). To listen to the codec output in your headphones you could either plug phones right into the headphone out on the codec..or if you've got a mixer with main and alt 3-4 buses you could bring the codec back to a channel and put it in the main mix.

Hmmm..I'm not using a mixer.

Here's the signal chain

TLM 103/Senn 416>Avalon 737>MOTU Ultralite.

When we tested the line I was running the mic directly into the ISDN unit.

Sounded fine and worked fine, but apparently no way to record it that way.

What's DAW stand for?

Chuck, thanks.

So can what you be described be done with my signal chain(which doesn't employ a stand-alone mixer)?

And if a mixer is needed, could I possibly use the Mackie Spike that was replaced by the MOTU Ultralite as a mixer? Hmmmm....

Wow. Tough room :)

Here's an idea. Try going into your MOTU as you would to record. If you can set your recording software to "input monitor only" or something similar you could probably take the output of the MOTU and send that to your ISDN.

Tried replying earlier from the train but the iphone wasn't playing well with others......

Sorry, not trying to be a smartass. Some people may not realize what a Digital Audio Workstation is either.

Stacks of rocks actually.

The new DAW is the Chinese version of PeeCee. called "aw cwapp" a.k.a.: "rahsa buggs" with an OS by dollar-aire - Wm. O pen de Door and is called "mist-ha".

Hope that helps with the explanation.
