SHeesh... after seeing CourVo's new biz card.. (real nice design) I'm not sure I dare present mine for feedback... but here goes
http://www.jasonsimonds.com/simondssays.jpg
let the hail of critical bullets commence!
thanks for the feedback... oh and the purple bars will be dark blue I hope.. this is a std design adaptation form the VistaPrint site. I have yet to produce ANY bizcard as it just wasn't time yet.. now it is ...
thanks all...
oh.. ps.. I had thought of using my profile pic as a backgroung for a card.. maybe later when I am a more established..

Your "Maine" voice. So, you only do voice-over in Maine?
I'd leave that off. I'd take your street address off, too.
Just phone and email addresses.
Be more specific than "Voice Actor". Perhaps use...
Professional Voice-Over
Narration - Audio Books - Broadcast - Web
My thoughts. That'll be one penny.

lose the stock vistaprint image. Way over-used. Heck, my daughter's dance recital tickets used the image. _________________ Jeff

i agree with bill in dropping the street addy ... i DO think your logo with the VU meter has promise, but, the red velvet & mic on the back is kinda tired ... i'd work with the "whistling" angle ... maybe something like this:
you can fade the image to 15% (or so) and leave it grayscale so you only have 1 color printing on the back ... saves mucho dough ... and is also kinda neat.
choose your fonts carefully - sometimes those "script" fonts can get really hard to read. KISS

Yep.. I see it now... the other feedback was "too busy" .. LOL.. i try hard to simplify but it takes years of discipline to achieve simplicity!!!
I'm going to work out my own logo from here.. I have the tools and skills.. I was just being lazy...
thanks for the ideas and critique
stay tuned for more... |

Also, remember that about 10% of men are colorblind to at least some degree, so watching things like blues over red / blue over green / red over green (etc.)
I can barely make out your name over the background bar. _________________ Lou Zucaro

Yeah, I have to say, I would see that card and immediately think "Personal Coach" or something religious _________________ Lou Zucaro

Just a thought, I like the premise of "Simonds Says" however the concept of "Whistling IS work" escapes me. Your card is one of the first impressions you make with of your overall image, so how many message do you wish to send to clients and prospective customers?
Single out the right message, and make it YOURS. Do not confuse you acquaintances with confusing messages.
Your business cards shows too much versatility, WHAT DO YOU DO? Whistle? Fine, Voice Act? Fine. What is "narration * broadcast * web"? And how does it apply to whistling or VO? Be specific, people remember.
Keep it Simple, Keep It Quick, Keep It On Target.
If you choose to show the whistling side, create another card, and use your WhistlingFool.com site for those folks with whom have and interest. Your VO card should be all about VO.
Good luck,
Toodles

frank - i kind of looked at it like a niche albeit a VERY small one ... and instead of a different card - use the back with a different feel, but similar branding to tie the two together.
oh - and the professional voiceover, narration, broadcast, web bit is something i think i (or at least we) threw in there. i'm sure jason isn't married to it.
i'm just playing, btw.
