Below is the script for a TV commercial, the voice over must not take any longer than 19 seconds. The FX track is tyre noise in keeping with the description. Remove all the sing-sing, brightness, announcer style, energy, enthusiasm, over inflection from your voice as you are not selling, you are merely dealing with cold, hard, facts. If you want an image to help you get this sound try the following. You are standing behind someone, you speak without wishing to startle the person but they must hear and fully understand what you are about to say and you have only one chance to say it.
Believe me, it's harder than it looks. for pronunciation its "Tawse" as in paws on a dog or cat.
script 20 seconds TV
In the wet…
In the dry…
On the motorway…
About town…
Who’s looking after you and yours…?

O.K., I'll give it a go... I didn't stretch this into a thirty, I thought the guys in Post could do that... so here it is, such as it is...

Katrina, it's a bit too stop/start and the pitch up then ptich down is there. You need to find the rhythm in the words. Don't split the sentence with the question, Who's looking after you and yours? The end line pause after the client name is a voice over thing, when you hear the pause it's too long. Tag line for Frank need to be changed to "Mmmmmmmmmm sure do sound good to me". Don't forget the whisper "nice" before we get to the freeze. good bit of direction would be "BACK OFF!!" I made no secret of the fact that this one is a tough one. The main reason is because any voice over worth his or her salt will find it hard not to "work the copy".
Listen to the voice over and what was required to compliment the caption and pictures on a news promo'. The latter approach is what is required for the Tawse Tyres commercial.

Suddenly the sound flattens out so the pictures, captions and FX all stand out with Katrina or Charlie as the glue that holds the pieces together.
Those able to master this style discover that all they have to do to add something to a piece is raise their eyebrows, tilt the head, gently raise a smile or shrug their shoulders ...........................
Ooooooooooh get me, MR I'm the TEACHER!! |

Tawse Tires
Wasn't there some attempt to standardize how we named these? What was it? I forget _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog

Thanks for asking, it's TAWSyourname.MP3
Don't bother changing the ones which are already up though, I can do that when I download them, and it's not a big deal, just if folks happen to remember it would be handy |

My take on Tawse Tires
This was my first take. It's not perfect but I didn't feel like investing any more time in it. You're getting what you paid for Banksey.
