I'm just curious, since this is such an absolute pronouncement about a pretty huge state.

Ok.. phew... I was born and raised in midcoast maine. I did a couple of stints out of state few a few years at a pop in Fl and TX, but I've lived hear for the last 21 years.

Let me amend to say that in my local area I find that poeple can't be to specific in the service/product they offer.

I actually have what I thin is a good concept... I'll put some spit and polish on it and show it to y'all in a few weeks....

btw.. I do appreciate all the feedback. I may not agree with some of it, but it all has helped me to refine what my theme/concept is and how it relates to me... then again we are talking about marketing and that gets into opinion and we all have them...Laugh

Hi diane,

Well. .in fact I have in some ways.. the SimondsSays theme will remain and will be the core to the concept on the cards, on the web and even to promote both the VO and whistling prongs, and can easily be adapted to promote and specific avenue of VO work, and it reflects my personality...

thanks for the encouragement... btw.. in the last week I have been a bit distant as my old dog has been very ill, with seizures and heart failure issues etc... so apologize for not replying sooner...

You need to think bigger. You will never be able to make a living wage doing voice work in just Maine. I'm right down the street in NH. Less than 10% of the work I do is for the local market.

Hi Moe..

I am thinking bigger, but I am also thinking realistic. The chances of me getting work in a major city in the next 6-12 months is not as good as the chances of scoring local work ( internet jobs not included/talking brick and mortar marketing). My plan is to start locally, work as much as I can, but also ramp up " my approach and hone my skill set. I will then reach out to the regional market and also the national market.

My sense is that, the higher up the food chain I go, the more I need to have good work under my belt to make that great first impression. My sense is that it would be a big mistake to jump right into a national marketing campaign with Zero jobs under my belt.

I am prepared to not work a ton for the first 6-12 months. I expect to NOT make money for the first 1-3 years. I will not chase away success, but I will not also make an unrealistic reach for the stars..... I am extremely optimistic and positive about my skills and the my path, but I am also open to suggestion... as a gemini I see all sides...

I remember that show.. He can pop his notes in a very spectacular way.. awesome.. very very hard to do consistently.. I can do it well in certain ranges, or between certain notes, but not like that.. although I do work on it... his style is very much trumpet/piano like in terms of his ability to make those nice shape notes and changes. My sound is more like a sax in its flow between the notes.. I also tend to enjoy a more slow jazzy song, but he is certainly an inspiration . Thanks for looking that up!

I may never make big bucks as a whistler, but I *will* have fun doing it.
