|
|
Hi there,
Got booked by a return client through one of my agents - but last time we recorded at a studio and as I recall, the engineer was able to arrange a 4-way call. Clients in three places calling into the studio.
Now, this time the client wants me to record in my studio, which is fine as the piece is only 90 seconds long, but we just found out that, again, there needs to be 3 people in separate locations listening in.
Can I use Skype for one of the callers and a regular three-way connection for the other two callers?
Will that work? _________________ Playing for a living...

Found this online and it works fine.
The three-way calling function can be used to enable four-person (or more) telephone conferencing. Follow this procedure.
1. Person A calls person B.
2. Person A puts person B on hold by depressing the receiver or the flash button. Person A will hear three beeps.
3. Person A then calls person C.
4. Once person C is on the line, person A depresses the flash button or receiver to bring person B back into the call. Now three people should be on the line.
5. To get the fourth team member on the line, person B depresses the flash button or receiver. This places persons A and C on hold.
6. Person B follows the same procedure (above) used by person A. This brings person D on the line. _________________ Playing for a living...

I have a lot of phone lines, so I was able to test it all in one room practically.
I called my fax line and my home line from my studio line and had my boyfriend call my cell phone from the home phone and all four phones were hooked up. _________________ Playing for a living...

Connie, you could also use Skype to make the call with all four parties (you and three others) although some latency may occur.

Was gonna say...Skype, myself. As I've done sessions with two others on the line plus the producer. There is a bit of a delay. But all went fine. _________________ www.voiceoverdrew.com

The best thing I've found is free teleconferencing with these guys:
http://www.freeconference.com/
You get a free exclusive phone number to use (for life I guess) and a password (number). You arrange a time, give everyone the numbers and they call in and are connected cleanly. Maggipinto and I have done a handful of medical reads with a client in Canada...we phone patch our audio and everyone hears everything very nicely.
And did I mention it's free?
