Fabulous article...thanks, Todd! Hope all is well re: doctoring. I was dentist-ing yesterday. Does anyone else have to re-learn how to work their mouth after a teeth-cleaning? |

I once scheduled a VO session for one hour after getting a root canal. Amazingly, I was able to do it. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

After my only root canal, I couldn't even move for several days... I can't imagine how you were able to do a VO... _________________ Charter Member: Threadjackers Local 420 |

Lee, I genuflect in your general direction...amazing! You have chords of steel, plus must just shake off the after-effects of Novacaine. Wow...just wow... |

I did cut it close on the Novacaine. As I started to drive to the studio my tongue was feeling a little like a tennis ball, but by the time I got there the effects had largely worn off and I was able to fake my way through the session. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

I generally need two to three times the normal novacaine these days. I discovered this a few years ago during a morning cleaning that turned into a small repair. I had to postpone a voice session three hours later (last minute too as I was trying to beat and chew sense back into my tongue with no luck).
Now I schedule all my cleanings later in the day so all I have to worry about is dribbling soup.

great article, thanks for the link Todd.
Last time I had a cavity filled I elected to forgo the Novocaine. It wasn't too bad since it was a fairly shallow cavity, but I think the dentist was upset at the permanent fingernail marks I left in his chair. _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog

I finally read that - so true.
The last time I had dental work done, I had them replace several old fillings at once and didn't schedule any work for the day. I forgot that I'd have talk to my then 2 year old. She kept looking at me when I wold tell her, "Do you half phoo foof on the fotty?" (translation: do you have to poop on the potty) _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic.
