Aloha Ladies and Gents of the Vo-bb.com

Here's a Demo I produced the other day and was wondering if I can borrow :60 secs of your time to critique. This was submitted the other day to my church so I can get involved with some voice work with them to help promo upcoming events and speakers. Anyway-I am not the best when it comes to production, but I learning something new with PRO-Tools every day. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Mahalo and Aloha!

Cameron

First of all My Dear Cameron—
If your demo is one minute long, it takes 60 seconds to listen to it and do nothing.
It takes about another minute to craft a one-word "W00T.gif" alt="W00T" border="0" />" or quick "didn't work for me."

It takes several listens to identify the elements of a demo, and much, MUCH more time to craft a reply that mentions the overall sound and the order of elements, what worked and what didn't. Even more time is taken with imagining the best recommendations and then typing it all out.
When I do a critique of a one-minute demo, it takes close to 1/2 an hour if I scrutinize the whole thing.

So— please be aware of what you're really asking for when you ask people to loan you "60 seconds".

xo

I did listen to your demo... twice. I personally would not use that format to appeal for voice work with a church. Perhaps something more relative to what that church deals with.
Your voice did stand out. One thing to remember is that in fast talking commercials, you still need good pronunciation... ie... dubba episodes... Cutter Sheverlete.

Hi Cameron,

Here's my two cents:

Cent #1: Maybe it's just my speakers, but I think you need to work on diction. It sounds to me like a lot of hard consonants are glossed over somehow, and a few vowels seemed to have gotten lost as well, e.g., "excution" instead of "execution."
Cent #2: 30 seconds of an annoying hard-sell car dealership ad was way too much for my ear. Waaaay too much.

Cheers,
Rich
