Hey Guys,
Can you give me some standard rates for audio books by the word? I have a client that is asking for a rate by the word for a 24,000 word book.
I've only worked with a company that pays either by the page or per hour of finished audio.
Thanks! _________________ http://toddvoice.com/ |

24000 words is about 2 and a half hours, maybe a bit less, so that can give you an idea of how much it's worth when you consider your PFH rate. _________________ Corey "Vox Man" Snow

In general, the going rate for audiobook narration can range from as low as a paltry .02 per word up to around .10 / word maximum. Normally figure somewhere in the .06 / word range. _________________ Scott R. Pollak

Books are usually quoted as $/pfh (per finished hour) and I use 9,500 words per hour as my measure. While that would make your book a 2.5 hour project I'd be tempted to round up.

Turns out, this client was a novice and went with a bid of $250 for the whole book.
No great loss. _________________ http://toddvoice.com/ |

Can you imagine the 'quality' he'll be getting for that rate??? Makes one shudder. _________________ Scott R. Pollak
