Here's the first dry run of the new setup. I filtered out the noise (baby monitor) on both tracks. Rode NTK to Mackie 1220 firewire to PC.

#1 Nothing added or applied.

#2 I threw on the Perkins EQ just for the heck of it. It seems to add a little on the low end but I'm having a hard time telling.

Please tell me what I'm screwing up if anything. Wink

Tom,

Both tracks are very clear and clean to my ears. The second one with the Perkins EQ is not much different than the track without it. It does make a very small difference though.

Sounds like you've got a great set up going there!

It sounds very good Tom, at least it does on my old computer speakers. At first I thought sample 2 brought down some extreme highs, but then re-read your post that stated you brought up some lows.

Good to hear you're up and running,

Jim

Both were clear to my ears... but #2 was warmer and smoother.

Thanks folks!
Working with the Mackie has been less than easy and I've still got some issues with it...

I've already started thinking about upgrading. Shocked Laugh

If you are recording to your computer via the Mackie Onyx firewire card...the perkins EQ is not in the signal path unless you've had your Onyx modified. The signal that gets recorded to the computer via Mackie Onyx firewire comes directly from the Mic Pre.

Well that might be why I didn't notice much of a difference. Laugh
