Thanks Philip!
I was close. I got Henri right. Batting .333, great for major league baseball.
I realize now that I didn't notice the little squiggle at the bottom of the c (aren't I technical?) and thought it was dirt on my copy until I looked up the name. _________________ Try to imagine a world where there is no such thing as hypothetical situations.

Philip's got it almost right-
The "c" with the squiggle..?
Should sound like an "S" - not a "Z"
And the "AWN" in Frawn-swah
and "Awn-ree" will work better if you don't really vocalize the "N" sound - almost say it, but DON'T-
It's these "nasalized" vowel sounds in French-

Hi Mr. Allo-pew! Are you by any chance related to Pepe Le Pew?
Sorry . . . couldn't resist.
This is how I would say it . . . I'm pretty sure it's right:

My only question was that usually in French when you have a word ending in "S" followed by a word beginning with a vowel sound, the "S" is pronounced and connects the words (as in Franh-Cwah Ahn-ri vs. Frahn-cwahzAhn-ri), but I don't imagine you do that with names . . . especially since "Francoise" (too lazy to look up the keystroke for the cedille) is a girl's name! |

NotBad Ray!
I actually just called Bob & said it for him.
He's all set!
What you are talking about are called "liasons" - links between words - But you wouldn't do that is this case. The "S" is silent in "François"

Liz officially ROCKS!
She called me while I was going up an elevator (amazed we kept the connection) and talked me through the pronunciation. The looks I was getting on the elevator were priceless BTW.
Thank you ALL so much. _________________ Try to imagine a world where there is no such thing as hypothetical situations.

Just speak English. Really loudly. With a southern accent. And wear shorts.
Ooh, and don't forget to ask for White Zinfandel everywhere you go and make sure to ask them to fill the glass all the way to the top. Then swig half the glass and fill it up again by adding ice.
Follow these simple guidelines and you'll be fine...perhaps even the hit of the country! _________________ Lou Zucaro

Awesome!
I may not know much of this "French" but I'll follow your tips and also be sure to say "Bone Joor," "Aw Reevwar," and "Mercy" really loudly and look pleased with myself wherever I go so the locals know I'm a tryin' tuh fit in.
