The fan in my Pavilion DV7 notebook is getting a little noisy and I'm worried about it failing so I want to replace it.

And as long as I'm doing that I thought I might look at making it quieter. I don't use it for recording so it's not critical that it be silent but I'd like to reduce the noise just because it bugs me and I suspect it annoys my neighbors when I use it in the classroom.

Anybody have a good source for reading up on how to quiet this puppy some? Or perhaps some first hand experience? I'm a bit of a geek but this is new territory to me.

FWIW---A good blast of some compressed air may quiet the noise before you run out to purchase another fan.

Simple really is sometimes best. Just shot some in there and it's much better! Duh. I do it to my desktop - I don't know why I didn't already try that on the notebook.

Thanks Kasey! Problem solved for zero cost. My kind of solution.
