So I get a call from my agent saying that the pencil for today was confirmed and they sent me the video with the rough voiceover. I'm to play a dog, who's owned by fashion designer, Basil Soda!

I was running around at home like a nutter and was late getting to the studio, so I grabbed my Mac and walked briskly to to the tube! Once settled, I opened my mail and opened the two scripts. Two? Yes, once in English... the other in French!! I didn't know if this was meant for me, so just in case, I sat there, reading aloud in my best accent (I studied Frnech at school 19 years ago!)

When I arrived, the client was on ISDN in Beirut. We worked out the voice of the dog and I read the script several times in English with him directing me. He and his friend seemed lovely and we laughed a lot during the recording.

"Right, let's do the French script" I gullped and then put it up. They wanted the dog to retain the British accent and as such any dubious pronounciations weren't challenged too heavily! It turned out to be great fun and somewhat bizarre!! They told me that they were thrilled with my performance and were looking forward to editing all the takes. Job done!

This job ever ceases to amaze me! To be honest, I'm glad I wasn't told that I had to read the French script, as it would have given me time to panic! I'm also glad I took French A Level and actually concentrating in class paid off!

Brilliant! And how bizarre that they just assumed you spoke French! Good thing they didn't hire me.

Hey Moe, Zut Alors is an exclamation, like wow, damn! Not rude or swearing, just surprise.

Darren, Good for you. Sometimes it's better not to know what will be asked of you so there is no time to panic just Act.
