Agreed. Going to HSR was like arriving at a destination. The people there.... awesome! I will say this -- it really doesn't even look like the good gear is at the auction... but I'm sure it's going to make someone very happy.

I looked at the date of your first post, Monk, and thought it would be safe to just take a look, it's probably long over by now.

Uh oh. Danger!!!

Ya, I'm registered to bid and have already put a bid on a few items.. the auction is tomorrow.

Mike I promise I'll stop buying gear when I have a U87, Neve and a nice ISDN setup.

Smile

monk - i have looked at this auction service before - did you have to make a 24% "down payment" in order to bid? if so - how does that work when you have no idea how much the item will go for?

While I'm not familiar with this auction service, typically those down payments refer to a unit's published reservation. i.e., $1000 reserve = $250.

Right, I set a limit on how much I want to spend, and sent the auction house a check for 25%.

They then approve me as a bidder and I can't bid beyond my means. Which for me is a damn good thing. (I get so excited...)

So I set a budget, and will go from there.

I used to do a lot of liquidation auctions and the upfront fee practice is standard. It separates the real players. Good luck on bidding!

Monk, while you're there and getting excited, will you pick me up a U87 today for a hamburger tomorrow?

(or something like that).

Wink
