Acoustics are counter-intuitive. If one thing is certain about acoustics, it is that if anything seems obvious it is probably wrong. |

Agreed. Going to HSR was like arriving at a destination. The people there.... awesome! I will say this -- it really doesn't even look like the good gear is at the auction... but I'm sure it's going to make someone very happy. _________________ Genus |

I looked at the date of your first post, Monk, and thought it would be safe to just take a look, it's probably long over by now.

Ya, I'm registered to bid and have already put a bid on a few items.. the auction is tomorrow.
Mike I promise I'll stop buying gear when I have a U87, Neve and a nice ISDN setup.

monk - i have looked at this auction service before - did you have to make a 24% "down payment" in order to bid? if so - how does that work when you have no idea how much the item will go for? _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

While I'm not familiar with this auction service, typically those down payments refer to a unit's published reservation. i.e., $1000 reserve = $250. _________________ Genus |

Right, I set a limit on how much I want to spend, and sent the auction house a check for 25%.
They then approve me as a bidder and I can't bid beyond my means. Which for me is a damn good thing. (I get so excited...)
So I set a budget, and will go from there. _________________ Company, villainous company, hath been the spoil of me...

I used to do a lot of liquidation auctions and the upfront fee practice is standard. It separates the real players. Good luck on bidding! |

Monk, while you're there and getting excited, will you pick me up a U87 today for a hamburger tomorrow?
(or something like that).
