i'd be in trouble all over again if i was (were?) to extend a branch of watercress, if in fact it was within close reach.

Isn't November a little chilly in Utah to be sitting around without one's watercress? _________________ the Amy Snively family of brands for all your branded thing needs.

Yes, "were" is correct.
I forget what it's called grammatically, but when you use "if I" or "if he" then you use "were".
And remember, one must keep one's watercress to oneself. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Think it's called the subjunctive. _________________ Elaine

That's "Conjunctivitis".
It's either an inflammation of the outer membrane of the eye, or an overwheling need to link up words and phrases and clauses. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Heh heh, one of my favorite lines from "Close Encounters":
Roy (Richard Dreyfuss) says "Tomorrow night you can play Goofy Golf, which is a lot of standing in line and shoving and pushing, and probably getting a 'zero,' or you can see Pinocchio, which is a lot of furry animals and magic, and you'll have a wonderful time."
That rocks. _________________ Lou Zucaro
